A concept design for a mobile financial coach built on conversational AI that turns passive banking into proactive money management.

The project was created in the UX specialization course at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE), with the direct participation of representatives from Raiffeisenbank's UX team. The brief was clear: design a mobile app that goes beyond traditional passive banking and moves toward active financial coaching.
Most banking apps today only answer the question "How much do I have in my account?" RB Coach comes with a new paradigm and answers the question "Can I afford it?" — bringing proactive advice, contextual insights, and an intelligent AI assistant with a human, informal, and at times playful tone of communication.
User problem: Ordinary spending overviews and charts don't get users to behave better on their own. People make decisions about money in real time and based on the current situation. They're expected to painstakingly analyze passive data instead of getting a straightforward answer.
Business problem (and a challenge for RB): Banks often run into a lack of interest from younger target groups (Gen Z and young adults), for whom traditional corporate banking apps are boring, confusing, and lacking the added value of personalized guidance.
Even though this was an academic-course project, I approached it with full commitment, as if it were a real commission. As the sole designer I was responsible for:
Complete ideation and definition of the product concept, one with real business potential within the Raiffeisenbank ecosystem.
Studying and adapting the bank's official design system for the new target group.
The complete UX/UI design of the interface in Figma.
In my design I proceeded in logical steps to ensure continuity with the existing brand while bringing a fresh perspective:
Gathering materials and insights: I analyzed the inputs from the client.
Moodboards and target group: I created a visual direction whose tone and aesthetic aim primarily at Gen Z and young adults.
Working with the design system: I thoroughly studied Raiffeisenbank's existing design system to know which elements to keep for brand identity and where I could afford to push the design.
Iteration and UI design: I designed an interface that doesn't treat AI as just an "add-on" but places it at the very center of the user experience.
The result is the RB Coach concept — an app built on Raiffeisenbank's distinctive yellow brand color, playful typography, and a clean information architecture.
AI at the heart of the product: Here, AI isn't just a button hidden in a menu. The whole app is built around a conversational coach. Users ask in their own words and get instant, specific, tailored answers.
Connecting data with action: Every notification or insight leads to an immediate response. (Example: a notification "You spent 28% more on food" → 1 tap → the Coach opens → offers a specific recommendation and a step to fix it.)
A human tone of voice: The Coach speaks empathetically, with light humor and clarity. Users don't feel like they're talking to a cold corporate institution, but to a buddy who understands finances.
The project passed with flying colors before both the client and the teachers. Everyone praised my idea and my ability to design a product with real business potential.
What I took away: I'm used to working on commercial commissions with real constraints. Returning to an academic setting and using the experience I'd gained there to create a bold, innovative concept for a big bank was a great change. The project confirmed that great UX isn't about adding more and more features, but about radical simplification — in this case replacing passive tables with a meaningful conversation.
